About
Close to two decades of experience, over a hundred design credits, and a host of new shows in production, Shalen Mermer has become the costume designer of choice for Film and Television at the world's most innovative productions. Recently, she designed costumes for the Barbaros: Sword of the Mediterranean cast in Turkey, serving as the Senior Costume Designer for the popular TV show.
From the periodic-authentic gowns to the stunning modern designs, Shalen’s expertise lies in costume drama. She takes pride and joy in her work and follows up from the moment a project is commissioned until it is finalized in the set-in action. Shalen designs for Netflix productions as well. Most recently, she successfully created a nuanced replica of Gerald’s (Henry Cavill) armor for the famous Netflix show The Witcher ‘s second season promo trailer, which featured a renowned Turkish comedian, Cem Yilmaz.
Shalen Mermer's contribution to her field of craftsmanship and art has been recognized by the Turkish State, and she has been officially granted the "Cultural Heritage Bearer" status by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey.
